There is a new petition against the proposed Orphan Works Act 2008, which is able to be signed by anyone anywhere in the world. The organisers are aiming for 1 million signatures. So far, 1,200 have signed including Lawrence Lessig, the free culture and Creative Commons advocate who earlier suprised many with his opposition to the Bills.
Please consider adding your name to this petition, which is a separate entity to the Lightstalkers petition and the Deviant Arts petition

The Shawn Bentley Orphan Works Act of 2008 (S.2913) and (H.R.5889) is a very complicated piece of legislation that has enormous implications for all Americans and all people. It is our belief this bill is an insidious attempt to undermine existing United States and International copyright laws that protect photojournalists, multimedia journalists, writers, artists, cartoonists, illustrators, videographers, musicians, American citizens, and all people who take pictures, make videos, or create art. Upon serious examination of this bill and the groups lobbying for its passage, we have concluded that it is a threat to the intellectual property rights, privacy, and free speech of all Americans and all people.

There should be no excuse to
There should be no excuse to use someones work, even if the owner of the work is unknown.
Please don't allow orphaned work to be used regardless of the situation.
The work still belongs to someone!
Giving people the right to
Giving people the right to steal work that I have done is morally wrong, fairly rude, and is basically legalising theft. Kill the bill.
